Good suggestions from all of you. It is not as I have not talked all of this over with her. I have and I thought we had some understanding and I have tried to be patient. She tells me not to worry that she does care about me but it is also that I have been used in the past myself and have trouble with trust. What I am saying is I don't know if she is not being straight with me. All I would like is the truth. I am wondering if she playing this up a bit and using this as an excuse. My heart says No, but my brian says Yes. I am trying to be objestive and that is why I am askng others opinion on how long should one give it. I was wondering if I have not being patient enough but I just don't want to put all this effort into a relationship that is gong no where.

1975 and all that
by helios ini well recall the husband of my sister-law telling us the most earth shattering news.
this was around 1973 and 1975 fever was starting to take over many individuals.
with breathless excitement he told us the follow story.

Yeah it was another JW urban myth. When I was young I recall my sister repeating a similar story about it happening to a friend of hers.

Thanks everyone for their advise. Most of what your saying I have already thought about. I am not ready to jump into a long term relationship but I would like to see it progress. Seems like there is always obstacles in our way i.e. daughter or her health. I am always straight forward with my feelings and maybe I told her too much already and she is a bit gun shy. I feel there is more to how she feels then what she is telling me. I have talked it out and if she thinks it best to not see me too much, I think I at least deserve that courtesy.
"Perhaps you could invite the Mother and her daughter out for some fun times: movies, ice cream, dinner. Just to get to know her and for her to get to know you. Nothing rushed. Take it very slow, and I am sure with honest and open communication between you and your friend, that things can be worked out. It will just take time."
Robdar my dear friend, I have tried to take her and her daughter out for dinner. The first night I met her daughter it started off on all wrong and went from bad to worse. I don't know if I said something although seems like it didn't matter what I said she has all men prejudged the same. By me offering to take them out it came across to the daughter as "trying to buy her". She has this preconceived idea that all men want is one thing. I said to my lady friend that if thats all I wanted I would not stick around and put up with all the grief. I know how she feels about us, as she said it many times and so has her cousen has told me much the same thing. I guess it is time I back off and let her make the next move. If its meant to be it will be. Relationships can be so complicated.

The John Denver Issue, vote now.
by londoner inthis is for those of you who sent me a private message saying you dont believe me, your letting your old jw traits come out, you know, not believing things when the facts stare you in the face unless it comes from the org.
maybee you should go back and re join them.. to confirm what happened .
i was at a john denver concert in the uk many years ago, he asked all catholics to stand up, after he got them seated he did the same with church of england, then the same with a couple of other religions, after he asked all jw's to stand up he announced that the concert would not go on untill they had all left and he then left the stage.

And then a very good friend told us
Again a very good indication of an urban legend. Its always a friend of a friend, never a first person account of the events.

Is religion the real reason for many wars?
by Pole ina lot of posters on this board have expressed the opinion that religion is the reason for many wars.
some have even implied that if religion was "banned" the number of wars would be reduced.

Not religion on its own although they are the ones that have taught intolerance of others beliefs. I think even if religion is not around there still would be hate and distrust of others because of their differences. We as a human race have to all do our share to teach our children that there are difference between all of us and that we must live together accepting others differences. Can we all do that? Can we stop the distrust between others national and religious differences? That is the question that humans still have not answered to this day.

IMO her answer to this question should help you decide a great deal. Best of luck!
She says it is a temporary situation but how long do I have to be patient??

I would like to bounce this off all of you and would like some feedback. I think I know what to do but just want to know if I am doing the right thing. Here goes my story,
I have been single now for over ten years. My children are all grown and I have nothing to hold me back. I just met this wonderful lady and have being dating her for the last four months. So far we are getting along, have so much in common and we have had some good times together. I have told her that I would like to take it slow but that we both feel the same for each other. Right now we see each other about once a week. I feel she is not playing games with me and we have been quiet honest with each other to where we would like this relationship to go i.e., eventually a long term commitment. So on my part there is nothing holding me back.
Now on her side she has only being out of her marriage for about a year and still is in the middle of settling and finalizing things with her ex. She also has some health issues, which is no big deal for me as I accept her for who she is although that has a lot to due with her availability. She has a 17 year old daughter that was abused by her step father, my lady friend's ex. It was the only father she knew for most of her life and because of this broken trust, she does not trust men. About a month ago my lady friend tells me that her daughters physiologist says it is not a good time for her (my lady friend) to get involved with one someone right now. The physiologist told her that it would take a couple of months for her daughter to get over this. Her daughter is so protective of her mother, like screening her calls and not giving her mother the messages. For us to meet we have to do it behind her daughters back which makes me feel like I am a 15 year old kid.
My thoughts are, will her daughter ever get over being over protective of her mother? If so how long should I give it? It is just that I really care about my friend, I have told her this and would like to spend a little more time with her without sneeking around. I am also wondering if she (my lady friend) is playing a little cool because of being afraid of commitment due to her bad past relationships. If so do I cool it for a bit? I really would like this to work as like I said previously we seem to have so much in common and these days it is so hard to find someone that you truly click with. I am also being a realists by preparing myself that this might not work out due to the dynamics of the situation. What do others of you think? I know it is hard to give a complete picture of the situation but if you would like any further details feel free to ask.

Was Johnny Carson pro JW?
by HappyDad indoes anyone remember one of his shows from the late 1970's when john denver was on the show?
i never saw the show but heard about it in the jw circle (urban legend??).
it was known that john denver hated jw's and during their bantering, carson asked denver about his asking jw's to leave during his concerts.

I had heard that John Denver was not a fan of witnesses for their stance of neutrality. He was very patriotic.
That reminds me of another version of the John Denver legend. He supposedly said something like, "We are now going to sing the national athem so before we start to sing it, all you JW can just leave".

I think it was the international assembly in 1973 that Glenn Campbell was rumored too have come to the Vancouver Convention to get baptised. It went was passed all around the convention and had every good dub watching out for Glenn sightings instead of paying attention to the boring talks.

I always thought that was an Urban legend. You being an eye witness to the event and what you are saying is true, John Denver was wrong. No difference if he asked alll Black people to leave. If that happened could you imagine the outrage!! My mom also tells the story about how John Denver was trashing the JW on The Tonight Show and Johhny Carson asked him to leave. I am not sure if this one is a JW Urban Legend or not.
